ولا يمكن لـمرآة كروية أن تأتي بالضوء من غرضٍ بعيد لتركيزٍ واحد، بما أن انعكاس الضوء الذي يصطدم بالمرآة حول حوافها لا يتقارب مع الانعكاسات المنعكسة من النقاط الأقرب لمركز المرآة، وهو الخلل الذي يطلق عليه الزيغ الكروي.
